Hola Ernie ! What's news with ANGER BURNING ?

News? Uuh. We are currently working on new songs for our next 12" and also planning a little for upcoming events. We will play two gigs in Germany in February. That's it.

A question I ask myself for a long time, why there many good bands in Sweden ? May be the Absolut Vodka... lol ?

Not nowadays, right? I guess we had some really devastating kickass bands in the 80ies - mid90ies - but nowadays it's pretty lame. It's a lot of macho mosh hardcore I think...eh. Lots of wannabe's, cred clowns. But I don't know. I like PUSRAD, GGA, HONNÖR SS and keep an eye on the bands in Malmoe. I think swedes are more into cheap beer than Vodka. It's pretty easy to get practice rooms...

I read that you will release a new split soon, can you talk more about this recording ?

Yes! We recorded lots of songs in 2009 (I think) for a 4way splitLP. Somehow that release unfortunately got cancelled. But now we picked up those songs, mastered them and realized it's pretty dope songs and it will be released as a split12" with EARTH CRUST DISPLACEMENT from Germany. Some of the songs are among my personal faves so it feels good to finally get in on vinyl. I think it's sent to the pressing plant now. It's a co-release by Rawmantic Disasters, Spela Snabbare Records and possibly some other labels.

What do you do outside the band ? Are you involved in your local scene, playing in another bands ?

'Outside the band' is a very big place! Haha. I do have some other projects, bands, fanzine etc, not worth mentioning right now. And the other boys are involved in different bands like RAW HATE, PARASIT and distro/label Spela Snabbare Records, etc etc... The local scene in my town (Uppsala) feels very metal so I don't put much attention at it. I myself are more interested in the global scene, the big picture, and put little attention to smaller parts. I blame the internet

Do you consider ANGER BURNING like a political band ? Are you involved personally into politic ?

Yes and no. I mean, as a band we don't have any radical message really. The songs is about war, disaster, etc. I guess our main message is that war is hell, the world is fucked up etc but we don't give any ideas how to change it really... As individuals we do have our personal beliefs of course. I guess it would be easy to say we are leftwing in general. Can't talk about what the others do but I myself are involved in organizations for homo/bi/trans people's rights. I do not believe in any system at all but I do believe that we always can change smaller parts of this big shit pile, starting with myself/yourself. I myself strongly believe in destroy/rebuild, both as individuals and for the whole planet. The dream would be a global apocalypse that destroys fucking everything and after that fuckin everybody would realize that we should all join hands and make a better world together. Amen.

ANTI-CIMEX come back in 2014 ? lol

I don't care. It's ok if they do but...I don't care. But somehow, if they manage do get it together, I do believe it will sound better than Discharge nowadays.

Final words are for you ? Thanx and cheers !!!

Big thanks to you Dave for this opportunity! I would like to say UNITE to all people out there. We are all humans, ape-forms, living breathing creatures. We don't have to despise each others. Some people does horrible things to others. That's not ok but to kill them is not a solution. Love is the only solution. Always. Everything else is an illusion. Fuck all fucking shit. Play fast or die. Peace

Hey Kim ! Can you give us your motivation to play music since the ceation of NAILED DOWN ?

Kim:Just listening to Punk and HC and thinking to myself I really want to play that too-making friends around the world trading tapes back in the 80's and discovering great raw music. The feeling you get when listening to this style and playing it.Recently getting the new line up of Shaun on bass and Davros on drums we have a good vision of where we want to go and what we want to do with Nailed Down 2014.

Shaun: I have known Davros since 95 played with him in the grind band Catalyst through this connection met Kim and the rest is history.

Davros:Kim and I have known each other since the Rupture days where we played together in Rupture Forceps ep we have known each other 25 years done numerous side projects I contacted Kim to get nailed Down going again.

What deal your lyrics actually ? They are the same in the past ? I would like to know if you're in the same state of mind  that 20 years ago ?

Kim I think the lyrics in the past were tongue in cheek but the new ones are alot more serious about the new world order,Totalitarianism, authority, the falsification of history etc

Davros:Conspiracy theories,New world order,false flag operatio

Do you have news recording/tours in the future ?

Kim Fuck yeah we are rehearsing a new set and plan to tour as much as we can in the future.2013 we had a new song released on the Power it up records Disrupt tribute Double LP a cover of Disrupts:body count. While trying to maintain our own style I guess we are influenced by the Wolfbrigade,Tragedy,Victims style.

Shaun:Yeah we,re looking forward to playing gigs in the near future and getting new material out there.

What are the good bands/albums you have listening this last times ?

Shaun;Carcass:Surgical steel,Napalm Death and Ive always been a huge Kreator fan.

ANGER BURNING are from the land of D-beat, Sweden. They play intense, fast and furious Hardcore-Punk. with the insame D-beat destruction. They have recorded some great vinyls and the "When" 12" out on Rawmantic Disaster Records is a future classic...

For those of you don't know NAILED DOWN is not dead. One of the best bands of 90's is still alive and play more angry, fast heavy than never... It's time to ask some questions to the band....

Nukes ep,INFERNÖH - 7 SPÅR E.P. 12" Korsfäst 12

HEROIN SS hail from Australia and they play Raw Punk Noise.

Garth talk about this band for MONUMENT OF THIEVES !!!

Before anything else, I love your great name HEROIN SS. Who had this great idea ? Héhéhé.... Can you introduce the band ?

Haha cheers man, the name came from Damien our guitarist. That is a story that only sounds good after eleventeen beers but. We are now officially a 3 piece record only type arrangement which consists of Me on vocals, Marc on Drums and Damien on Bass & Guitar(Z). We do have the odd show and get silly drunken Friends to play the fill in parts haha

I've always loved the Australian scene, olds band like DEPRESSION, VICIOUS CIRCLE, GASH... and the most recent like KROMOZOM, LAST CHAOS, NAILED DOWN... Can you explain why the Austialian Punk like this kind of sound ?
To be honest I can't. Australia is one of those countries that is a follower and can't really think for itself. Australians like to think they are down with what's what but really they like structure. It's a reflection of there up bringing. We had a bunch of brutal bands around in the early 90's that know one really knows about and probably never will. The early ones you mentioned are cool but politically suss(Nailed Down are ok).

Do you get to play many gigs ? What's audience ? Do you have good answers ?
We play sod all shows in Brisbane. We have played more shows inter-state in the last 12 months than at home. Like I said Australia likes structure and is kinda conservative when it comes to bands. It is very U.S hardcore orientated as a whole.

What deal your lyrics ? Do you think it's important for a Punk band to talk about politic ?
Lyric wise I don't really trout anything that hasn't already been said. It's punk rock for fuck sake. War is shit, religion sucks but BEER is GOD. Generic stuff man haha.

What's your influences ? what bands are you currently listening this last times ?
I can only speak for myself on this one but at the moment I'm listening to GLOOM, ZYANOSE, ZATSUON, CONFUSE, NERVESKADE, NOMAD, PERDITION etc etc. I listen to heaps more but that's what I'm playing to and from work at the moment haha

Your project with HEROIN SS ? Anything else you want to say ? Thanx Garth ...
Massive cheers Dave for the interview mate. Cheers to all of you noise freaks that have got onto our shit haha, get in contact if you want a demo and be sure to buy or split flexi 7" with Sweden's HONNOR SS out on PPG.

Hey Graham ! How was your last tour in Europe last year ? How has the reaction to your live shows been ?
Hey Dave, thanks for the chat. Our European tour was great, it being our first time there (as a band and as individuals), we were very much blown away by the hospitality and organization of everything. The reaction from the crowds were great aswell, not everyone had heard of us but once we started playing shows word started to travel to the other cities about us and more and more people started coming out. The next one should be even better!

I've really enjoyed your album "Mindless Nation", who is for me one of the best album in 2013. Have you a new recording in the work ?
-Thank you for the kind words, glad you liked the album once it finally got to you! We do have a new 7" that will be out for the tour through our regular label RUST AND MACHINE as well as IMMINENT DESTRUCTION from the UK for European distro. We're quite happy with the new recording, sounds massive, 4 new songs.

Tell us about about the canadian scene ? Do you remenber of Capitalist Alienation ? It was a old band who played very noise....
I know of Capitalist Alienation yes, not too familiar but I'm pretty sure they're from Montreal, Quebec. The Canadian punk scene is quite active, there are some great fests like A VARNING IN MONTREAL, DISTORT VANCOUVER (which is now dead  RIP) and NOT DEAD YET in Toronto. Where we live though it is very different because we live so far from the major cities. We have a good little scene of local bands, and the odd touring band will make the extra drive east to play in Halifax, but we pretty much have to make our own fun.

Do any members play in other bands ? Are you involved in your local scene ?
Yes I book and promote alot of shows and play in some other bands. I have a thrash/black metal band called HELLACAUST that I started when I was very young and we still play, as well I have a new BM band called VERSIFIST who is about to release our first demo through VAULT OF DRIED BONES (who does all of the NAPALM RAID t-shirts). Tom (Bass) lives in Montreal (14 hours away from me and Clancy) and plays in a thrash band called ABYSSED...he also has a new band he's just started called DIVEBOMBER. Clancy used to play in a few bands here in town but now just concentrates on NAPALM RAID and his job building motorcycles.

Soon, you'll play a new tour in Europe, have you more infos ?
Yes we're doing another 3 weeks in May. We'll be playing SLOW END FEST in Eindhoven and SUMFEST in London, also we'll be going to Scandinavia for the first time to play a few shows in Sweden and Denmark...also there are additional UK dates before SCUMFEST. We're also excited to return to a few places like Vienna and Prague. Next time we will go further south

Thanx for your time. Any final comment ?
Thank you man for your suppoprt, hopefully we will meet in Marseille! Anyone can get in touch with us at pilon_3@hotmail.com

Hey BUITEN GEBRUIK ! What's news since your last gigs in Marseille ? Have you made a new tour ? New recording... ?
He Dave....and offcourse..all you sweet readers.... Well...actually not really much happened since our last time in Marseille. We did something like 15 gigs per year, mostly in Hollandbut too bad in our private lifes were some things going on that made us takin it easy...we released so far only a 7'' on Darcy Trash and in April 2011 a German tour with our Londonfriends MEINHOF....
What did the name BUITEN GEBRUIK come from and what does it mean ?
Buiten Gebruik means Out of Order and we picked the name because of the double 'ui' in it. Knowing it would cause problems with other problems with the pronounciation and that s fun for us to hear.
Most of you had played in other bands in the past, have you started BUITEN GEBRUIK like a side project ?
Nope....3 of us were playing allready in Sangre and after the 4th line up change we decided to start all over instead of continuing Sangre 4.0. Only thing we needed was a drummer and that was Leon who plays also for Groningenveterans Fleas and Lice  and later on we added extra guitarist Steven who played in a million Groningenbands....this year I spend some time in hospital and was replaced for 4 gigs by Goska who ueed to sing for Sangre and her boyfriend Till....so many thanx for that.
Who writes the lyrics ? I think to know your lyrics are in Dutch, why this choice ? Do you think the message is important for a punk band ?
When we stopped playing like Sangre we did take some of the newer songs with Buiten Gebruik and to make a clear difference we decided to be total Dutch speaking as I am the only singer and with Sangre I sang together with Goska from Poland so English wasvthe logical choice...
How scene actually in Amsterdam and Holland ?
Like everywhere....the scene is getting smaller and smaller but happily there are still more then enough gigs to go to....and sometimes the gigs are even sold out so we can t be complaining and sometimes I even get surprised by what s still happening.
What band are you curently listening ?
I hope I am not losing credits but most of the music I hear is on the radio in my car and if I am finally in control to chose something myself...big chance its gonna be something unoriginal like Slayer or Discharge.....
The future for the band ? When you're come back in Marseille ?
To Marseille ? As soon as the oppurtunity is there....so far we won t have much in the pipeline coming up.
Any last comment ? Anythingelse want to say !!!
Anything I can say....OK attention for the very metalband from Leon containing the rest of Sangre....they re called Dieselbreath and everybody should check them out....
Merci.....hope to meet you all at the gigs....Oi!Oi!

BUITEN GEBRUIK are a fucking awesome HC/Crust band in Europe actually. They a have a fucking great 7"EP and I've lucky to see them 2 times... This interview was conducted with Billy via email....

Hello Michael! How are you? What's news with the band since you have played in Marseille some years ago?

Hi Dave! I am doing fine thanks!! a lot of things went on since the time we played in Marseille

first of all Inge our vocalist at that time stopped with the band and later on Lampe our bass player did not find the time or energy to continue to play with us. Within a few weeks we found a new bass player called Bjorn!  we are now  going on like a 3 piece , I do all the vocals and Jens our drummer is doing some backing vocals…we have been on tour  all over Europe ever since and later this year we are going to record chapter 4 our new lp!

You have made an album in 2011 and a split with ABSOLUTIST. These records are heavy... The sound is strong and massive, can you talked about the recording and what's your secret for getting this sound?

The first 2 record were recorded in my home studio and for the split with ABSOLUTIST we went to a professional recording studio. We recorded everything within 2 days, what can I say about the sound?? First of all we are tuned in drop A and I am using bigger strings, changed the picks of my guitars and I am using 2 solid-state guitar amps with 2 4x12 cabinets, I do not use any other external distortion pedals or anything, just the gain that is on my amp! That is about it I guess

Who writes the lyrics? What inspires the lyrics writing? Music in first...

All 3 of us are writing lyrics, the inspiration we get to write the lyrics is coming from our everyday life in general, they can be emotional or depressing, it is our view on what is happening in this fucked up world we are living right now, they come from the hart and we are standing behind every word we are saying/singing, musically it is the same, we try to put our feelings and emotions into it

Personally I’m not a big fan of downloading music. Do you think downloading will split in any way or cause problems to the punk scene and music in generally?

I know what you mean, these days everything  go’s  via this digital world and it is unfortunately sad to see that nobody is buying your records anymore at gigs because they have already downloaded it from the internet, but then  again it is also a nice medium to share music and ideas . I do remember the time that everything went via the post office or by phone…back in the 90’s when we wanted to organize gigs we needed to phone or handwrite letters to the bands and if you needed their records you went to a gig or your order them at your local diy distro, these days are gone I am afraid. but than again every punk rocking vinyl lover will still buy records from bands and support them  or maybe we are coming old grumpy men Dave!

You’re on the road in May. Some words about this tour? What are the best memories you have from the shows you've played as far? Any funny/interesting story to tell us?

Yes we are leaving for 10 days and we are looking forward to play some nice places we never played before, this year we are touring through Germany/Austria/Croatia/Czech republic/Poland….with amazing bands like : AGE OF COLLAPSE (us) and NAPALM RAID (can)…..best memories from shows ? last year’s tour was very nice, our first bass player Greg was with us and we had a amazing time with him! good memories!! last year we played also Paranoya fest in Dresden, the location was epic in the middle of a forest ! punx and nature my favorite mix of all time!

What bands are you currently listening ? What's on your turntable at the moment ?

Latest records I listen to are:

HIEROPHANT lp

VESTIGES/GHAUST split lp

PARASIT välj din egen bödel lp

CENTURIES taedium vitae lp

DEAFHEAVEN sunbather lp

and the older classics: HIS HERO IS GONE/TRAGEDY/WOLFBRIGADE/DISFEAR/GRIEF/ETC…..

Anything else you want to say or feel needs to be addressed ? Thanx Michael !!!

Thanx Dave for this interview and keep up the good work!! and remember old punx never die!!

LINK strike from Belguim with his heavy/doomy crustcore. Their recordings can be the soundtrack of the end of humanity. Interview with my good mate Michael....

Hi Armagedom ! Can you a brief history and can you present ARMAGEDON in 2014 ?

Armagedom began in 1984 , previously it was a band called Rad Left but with the departure of former bassist ( Zero ), we decided to change the band name to Armageddon . The band was formed with Javier – vocal, Ricardo - Drums , Barriga - Guitar and Eduardo - Bass . We started with no equipment ( really nothing ! ) and without knowing a musical note , super punk ! The Redson ( from Colera band ) helped us a lot in the beginning when we started rehearsing and learning to play in his studio using the Colera equipment. After a few months we managed to buy some equipment like drums, amps, guitar, a bass and sound table . From that moment we started to rehearse in a room in the back of my parents’ house. Our style of letters was already set from the beginning, the vision of misery, suffering, hopelessness and misfortunes that were around us. At the beginning the sound was very hardcore noise, this was the era of the Mortos de Fome, Super Projetos , Divida Externa, Dinheiro e Poder songs. In time we could fit in better and also began to have other influences, it began to appear as sounds Gritos de Dor and Torturam os Pobres. In 85 we decided to go to a studio to record our first material . We raised some money and went to the Eldorado Studio and recorded the first tracks of Armagedom . This tape was used to do the LP 1984 – Principio da Agonia which was launched in 2005 by the label Drunk & Dissoberly Records Finland . Actually the sound was pretty chaotic at that time . This album was also released on cassette in 2012 by the label now Purgatorius Records Luiz Umberto . With tape in hand we were told that the staff of the Front Attack was preparing a collection and got involved . Thus we include the Mortos de Fome and Super Projetos songs in the Ataque Sonoro comp LP , our first participation on a record. The curious thing is that I actually want to include the sound of Gritos de Dor instead of Super Projetos but ended up getting the same Super Projetos . At that time we did not do much shows, did not have much space for playing, everything was very restricted . We played at the launch of Sound Attack in SP and RJ , played at a festival in Santa Catarina and some shows in the periphery. One of the most important shows we did at the time was in Lira Paulistana . This show was recorded and became the B side of the LP Principio da Agonia hard too!

After Ataque Sonoro comp participation, Nunes (Rainbow Records) heard our  tape recorded in studio Eldorado and wanted to release an LP with that material. But we were already in another period where we were making sounds like Sofrer Demais, Sobreviver, Asilo na Existência, Mutilações and managed to convince Nunes to pay us the studio to record a more current sound of the band . This time we recorded in the studio VICE VERSA in 16 hours . It was pretty crazy for sure! I had some ideas for logos , drawings and sleeve , I told these ideas to my cousin Beto who was an excellent designer. This way, we launched our first LP Silencio Funebre!!.

In 1987 , we decided to change positions in the band , I went to the guitar , Barriga moved to Bass, Eduardo for the vocal and only Ricarco continued on Drums . We did this because Eduardo had a more powerful voice and I was playing guitar better, so the band could improve the sound . At that time many bands had huge influences from metal and we too. In 1988 , Barriga left the band for personal reasons and we invited Beto to join us playing bass . During this period we recorded another demo tape into four channels with the sounds that became part of the split LP with the Força Macabra which was released on the label Six Weeks 97 ( U.S. ) .                                                                                                              It was an interesting period where we played in houses like Espaço Retro, Dinamo , Der Temple and other places. In 1993 , we had to stop because of personal reasons and we stood until 1998 .                                                                                                                                   In 1997 the guys of Força Macabra contacted me and we began a series of projects together with the release of the split  LP,  a EP with songs I composed for Força Macabra and also a show that I did with Força Macabra in Puntala Fest in 2001 only playing Armagedom songs!!!! That was crazy, man!! I talked to Ricardo and Eduardo in 1998 and we came back to activity with Armagedom band . In 1999 Claudinei joined the band playing bass so we get a complete band again!!!! When we returned back (1999 ) there was a new house called Hangar 110 in São Paulo and the scene was very strong in Brazil, many places and many gigs happening.  With this new lineup, we again went to the studio and released the CD "Das Cinzas ao Inferno" marking the return of the band . We played in various cities and locations, Sao Paulo , ABC , Porto Alegre , Curitiba , Campinas , SJ do Rio Preto , Goiania , Sorocaba and several others. In 2009, Eduardo also left for personal reasons and in 2010 Thrash joined us on vocals . Thrash played with us for almost three years and we released the LP “Dez Mil Anos de Terror”. In 2012, Thrash decided to leave the band because of personal problems. Also in 2012, Ricardo left the band and we had to look for a new drummer and also a new singer. So, we invited Spaghetti (ex Ratos de Porão) for drums and Renato (Social Chaos) for vocal, both accepted and that is the new lineup we have right now.

When you have started to listen Punk/Metal... and why have you choosen to start a band ?                                                                               I believe I started listen to that around 76 and 77 when I was a kid !!! I liked punk very much and I understood after some years that everyone can have a band if he/she wants, so I decided to start my band cause I had many ideas in my mind that I would like to share with others too.

How was your European tour in 2013 ? Have you see a difference between Brazil ?          The tour was fine, this was the third tour we did, I have to say that this time there was less people attending than the other times but it was fine. The difference with Brazil is huge, it is hard to explain, you have to play in Brazil and Europe to understand the differences. I may say that in Europe there much more places to play and the gigs are better organized, the bands are better paid, in Brazil there is such a lot of energy that in some Europe places you don´t see it.

Have you played in South America ?

Just in Brazil, no ther place out of Brazil, who knows we can make it next year…

You have played a couple of gigs this last time with famous bands and you have played news songs ?                                                            Yes, Armagedom is completed 30 years this year and we are doing special gigs, fortunately we started the year playing with amazing Terveet Kadet and MOB 47, the gigs were crazy and I was very happy to play with them. We have new material that will be part of split EP with the amazing Nuclear Frost band (that is touring Europe this year), we have three new songs and are preparing more!! The machine is working!!  We will also play in Puntala Fest as part of 30 years celebration and will do some special gigs in november in Brazil that will be great!!!

Do you think to release a new album soon ?

Yes, we have songs for a split ep with Nuclear Frost but we are also preparing new material for another release maybe an EP or a split LP.

You play in ANTI CLIMAX a great D-beat band... Can you talked about his project ?

ANTI CLIMAX is a project I started with Pedro (drummer of AGROTOXICO) and Diego (Guitar of Social Chaos), I would like to do a band with huge influences of Anti Cimex band mainly the period of Scandinavian Jawbreakers and Absolut Country of Sweden period. Pedro and Diego are very good friends, they also love Anti Cimex and they play really nice, so all of us are enjoying a lot this project. I don’t have much time to dedicate to this project but we are very happy with the songs we did and recorded!!! I hope to do more songs like that this year!!!

This year, the final cup is in Brazil, are you into soccer ?

I am not into football, Usually I like to see the Brazilian team playing but this year is not very good because the government spent much money to do stadiums and etc when there are much other priorities that they should take care, so I don’t support this world cup and Brazilian team this year.

Thanx for your time. Last comment for the readers ?

Hey guys, to know more about Armagedom visit our page www.armagedom.org, facebook - armagedom the deathcore, email armagedom@hotmail.com.Thanks and cheers!!

Javier

No need intoduction with this cult band fom Brazil. It was a pleasure to meet them during their last tour.

Some question with Javier the mastermind of ARMAGEDON

You have celebrated your 10th anniversary...  Can you a brief history of C.T.A ? Have you always the same line up ? What are the significant moments you spend together ?

Z - I had been friends with both Rob and Dav for a few years before we started. I had been thinking about moving to Seattle for a little while and told Rob that I wanted to start a band with him when I moved up there. Dav had moved up to Seattle a few months before I did and when I arrived in town we got together and had a few drinks and I asked him if he wanted to play in the band with Rob. Then we began rehearsing and slowly developing our sound. It has always been the three of us, we had briefly considered adding a singer and maybe an extra guitar but it never happened. We've definitely had a few significant moments. We had our van blow it's engine on our first tour and we were stuck in a small town in California (Gilroy, the garlic capital of the world!) and were there for several days with nothing to do. Our tour in 2005 during a huge heatwave, which culminated in our 3 year hiatus. Our Euro tour in 2012 was probably one of the best experiences of my life. Was glad to get to share it with friends that I've been making noise together with for the last decade.

R - We've canceled a lot of practices to go watch movies together.

D- When we first started out I had an enormous chain of effects that I was trying to run though a guitar and an old 79 Rowland keyboard. After a brief amount of trying to find a bassist, I decided to switch to bass and ditch the keyboard. That's when we really developed our sound into some sort of... thing.

When you have started did you have the idea of what COUNTDOWN TO ARMAGEDDON should sound like ?

Z - When I told Rob I wanted to start a band with him I initially said I wanted it to sound like if Discharge, Joy Division and Neurosis got together in a dark alley and had a new band. It started out more or less like that and over the years more and more influences creeped in and we began developing our own sound. I'd say now it's more like Killing Joke with a dark post punk side. D - I just wanted to sound like Joy Division and Discharge, but heavier.                                                                                             R- We learned an entire set of CURE covers for a Halloween show a few years ago and it had a lot to do with changing the way we write and play.

You have a played a Euro tour in 2012 and a new one is in the work. How was it ? Have you a see a difference between Europe and USA ? Have you played in Mexico or in the South america ?

Z - Europe was amazing! I had one of the best times of my life on that tour. There was a definite difference in the way bands are treated in Europe as opposed to the states. There is more a sense of community in Europe and everyone working together was a wonderful thing to experience and I've tried to take what I've learned over in Europe and use it in my life here. The things like getting fed and a few beers and a decent place to sleep are pretty great to have on tour and it is very much appreciated. We have only played one show in Mexico, down in Tijuana on a west coast tour we did with our friends in FRUSTRATION. That was a fun show, they didn't want us to stop! There are lots of places I would like to go to still and South America is definitely one of them.

R - Europe was fantastic, and we got to play for a lot of people that seemed to either understand or appreciate what we do more than we are used to back in the states. We made many friends (like you!) and had a great time playing and seeing new cities.  Really looking forward to this trip coming up in September!

D- Europe rulled! Can't wait to play Mexico and South America and pretty much everywhere else.

Robert, tell us about your label ABORTED SOCIETY RECORDS ? When you did it start ? What releases have you done ? Any future releases in the works

R- I started Aborted Society in 1998 as a website.  There wasn't a lot of punk content on the web at the time and I wanted to make a resource for people to connect with DIY, bands, network, etc.  The following year my friend Jack and I started making a print zine to document what was going on in the Northwest at the time, and the label kind of came out of that as an experiment.  Since then we've had 31 releases, with the most recent ones being the split 12" by ADELIT@S (Portland) and KOHOSH (Seattle), and an LP for heavy d-beat crust band INSIDIOUS PROCESS (Göteborg, SWE).  We will be working on the debut LP from Australian crust warriors EXTINCT/EXIST, as well as contributing to a split 7" with DUESENJAEGER from Germany, whom CTA will be playing several dates with on this upcoming tour.

Whats bands are you currently listening to ? Your favorite bands, past, present...

Z - Currently I haven't been listening to too much music as I've been studying and doing schoolwork which has occupied most of my time. In the moments where I do get a chance it's mostly been old UK 82 punk and rock n' roll, like the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath. My favorite band since I was 12 has always been Nirvana, through them I learned about so many good bands, the Wipers, the Melvins, Big Black, Scratch Acid, the Germs etc.

R- These days I am revisiting a lot of classic UK and American punk I grew up on; EXTERNAL MENACE, UNDERDOGS, REALITY CONTROL, etc. My favorite bands to this day are still THE CURE, JOY DIVISION, KILLING JOKE, AMEBIX, EINSTUERZENDE NEUBAUTEN, and RUDIMENTARY PENI.

D- The Cure, Devils Blood, Uncle Acid, Skinny Puppy, Bathory, Entombed, Long Knife, Sonic Youth, Chromatics, Dismember... I woke up this morning and the first thing I played was Kromosom.

How is Seattle ? Some words about the local scene ?

Z - Seattle is still pretty cool, the scene here is kind of small at the moment. We lost one of our major DIY venues a little while ago and getting a space together where everyone can have shows  all ages has been tough. Seattle is going through huge growing pains right now and with rents rising and a the population growing it's sometimes hard to see that this still is a pretty cool place to live, even if there are a lot of hip business hipsters coming to town.

R- Seattle has traditionally had a really tight knit community.  Even though the city is big, the scene is relatively small and everyone knows each other.  There's a lot of crossover; there's more of a big doom/metal scene so we end up playing with several different kinds of bands rather than just playing only punk shows.

D- Seattle has it's ups and it's downs. Everyone is getting priced out of the city due to gentrification so there's a lot of younger punk bands outside of seattle that have their own thing going.

Thanx for your time... Any last comments ? Anything else you want to say ?

Z - Thank you for the interview! And thank you for our show in Marseille! A bientot!

R - Cheers Dave, hopefully we see you on the road!

D-  Live forever Dave!
